The Muslim cemetery project in the Estrie region is an old wishful thinking on which several teams from the Muslim community of Sherbrooke have succeeded and worked hard for the concretizer.

The process for obtaining land for the purposes of the Muslim cemetery in the Estrie region has been underway since the 2000s. With each attempt, constraints applied in particular in town planning, societal and others hampered the birth of such a project.

It was in 2018 and thanks to the urban planning team, the executive and municipal council of the City of Sherbrooke and their mayor, Mr. Mayor Steve Lussier, that the City conceded land by accepting an offer to purchase and this project was able to see the light of day.
